Afterlife – after eurogroup

I’m sitting in my apartment, listening to music while reading updates on Greece. And I have the same feeling I had when I broke up from a long time relationship – suddenly every song speaks to my heart, describes perfectly my emotions and, actually, it was definitely written for me!

So, I have a whole list – and other people do as well with seriously good and serious songs. But, I feel like sharing just one now, in a more sarcastic, silly, I-can’t-take-it-anymore mood. I changed some lyrics (changes in bold) but it’s still very easy to sing along.

Afterlife
Oh my Merkel, what an awful wor(l)d
After all the breath and the dirt and the money are burnt
And after all this time, and after all the negotiations go
And after all the hangers-on are done hanging on in the dead lights
Of the after-eurogroup

I’ve gotta know…

Can you work it out?
If we scream and shout, ’till you work it out
Can you just work it out?
Scream and shout ’till you work it out
’till we work it out, ’till you work it out
’till we work it out, ’till we work it out

Afterlife
I think I saw what happens next
Oh, it was just a glimpse of you, like looking through a window
Or a shallow sea
Could you buy me?
And after all this time
It’s like nothing else we used to owe
And after all the hangers-on are done hanging on in the dead lights
Of the afterglow

I’ve gotta know…

Can we work it out?
If we scream and shout, ’till we work it out
Can we just work it out?
Scream and shout ’till we work it out?

But you say, “Oh, when euro is gone
Where does it go?”
And you say,
“Oh, when banks are gone
Where do we go?”
Oh where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?
Where do we go?

And after this
Can Greece last another night?
After all the bad advice
That had nothing at all to do with [real people’s] life

I’ve gotta know…

Can we work it out?
If we scream and shout, ’till we work it out
Can we just work it out?
Scream and shout ’till we work it out?

But you say,
“Oh, when euro is gone
Where does it go?”
And you say,
“Oh, when money is gone
Where does it go?”
We know it’s gone
But where did it go?
And where do we go?

Is this the afterlife?
It’s just an afterlife without euro.
It’s just an afterlife.
It’s just an afterlife.
It’s just an afterlife with you.
It’s just an afterlife.
It’s just an afterlife.
